2008 Tweed Angling Fair
18/06/2008
The annual Tweed Fair proved to be an outstanding success for Carron in 2008, this well attended event brought out spectators and customers in good numbers. The Speycasting Competition was moved further upriver this year to a dedicated location with a custom built platform due to safety concerns. The qualifying rounds were particularly challenging as the wind was blowing constantly upstream most of the weekend, the 6 best qualifiers would make Sundays final.

Sundays Final proved to be the worst conditions of the weekend with a strong breeze blowing upstream, a very large crowd gathered for the Final as all the competitors were praying for the strong winds to stop blowing upstream. This never happened and the wind was relentless, whoever could adapt to these conditions best was going to succeed and win the prestigious Roxburgh International Speycasting trophy.
